Downtown Music’s direct-to-creator division, CD Baby, today announced the appointment of Jean Mischler to SVP, Marketing.

Mischler will oversee all marketing efforts across CD Baby and its suite of services, including Soundrop, CD Baby Stages, and more. In this role, she will drive initiatives that empower independent artists worldwide to leverage these tools, helping them grow their fanbase and achieve greater visibility. Based in New York, she will report directly to CD Baby President, Molly Neuman.

Jean Mischler, SVP, Marketing, CD Baby has said, “I'm incredibly excited to join CD Baby at a time when independent artists have more opportunities than ever to share their music with the world. Throughout my career, I've been passionate about empowering artists to own their creative journeys. CD Baby has a long-standing reputation for supporting independent artists, and I look forward to helping the company reach and inspire more creators globally.”

Mischler’s appointment follows Downtown’s efforts to unify its business-to-business and creator-focused divisions under a single operating company. By bringing CD Baby’s operations under the Downtown umbrella, independent artists now have access to a wide range of services designed to support their careers, including music publishing, distribution, artist marketing, and royalty and financial services. As the entry point into the industry, CD Baby was the first distributor to empower independent artists to release music on their own terms and continues to evolve in a changing landscape to meet the needs of creators at every step of their journey.

Molly Neuman, President of CD Baby comments, ‘’Jean's passion for music and her nearly 20 years of experience championing artists and independence make her an invaluable addition to our leadership team. Her approach to marketing and deep understanding of the independent music landscape will be instrumental as we expand CD Baby’s reach to independent artists around the world. We're thrilled to have her on board.”

Prior to joining CD Baby, Mischler served as Vice President of Growth Marketing at Sofar Sounds, a global music community that connects artists and audiences through live music experiences and artist services. At Sofar Sounds, she led the growth marketing team and programs as the company prepared to return to in-person concerts after an 18-month hiatus during the pandemic. Mischler worked to grow ticket sales and revenue through a variety of marketing and customer acquisition channels, including social media, search, partnerships, affiliate programs, email, and SMS campaigns. Sofar's live experiences now take place across 78 countries around the world.
